Urgent Problem?

Something down right now? Here's the honest answer: what I can do, and when to call 911 first.

Preston's Farm Electric is a scheduled-service business. Work is booked in advance, with shutdowns planned around milking and chores. That's the whole model — and it's why my regulars don't get many surprises.

So straight talk: I'm one truck, not a 24/7 emergency service. If I'm in the middle of another farm's job when your parlor goes down, I can't teleport. I won't pretend otherwise — any electrician who promises you 24/7 from a one-truck shop is selling you something.

Here's what I can do:

  • Call or text first. (607) 354-1012. If I'm free, I'm rolling.
  • Plan farms aren't starting from scratch. I've been through your barn and have your panel and equipment notes, so when I can fit an urgent call in, I already know what I'm walking into.
  • Know the minute it happens. A barn alarm calls or texts your phone when the power goes out, the fans quit or the barn gets too hot or cold — so a problem doesn't sit for hours.
  • If it's a safety issue — sparking, burning smell, a dead panel feeding ventilation on a hot day — call 911 first, then call me.

And the real fix for urgent problems: they're what the service plans are for. The heat-camera scan finds the breaker that's going to fail in July — in October.
